The Respond2Grace Foundation Transformation Series: Part 4

At the heart of The Respond2Grace Foundation lies a deep belief in the power of transformation. Pastor Rick Jones, founder and Executive Director, experienced the pain of housing insecurity firsthand and has since dedicated his life to offering the same hope, faith, and practical support that transformed his journey. The Respond2Grace Foundation has a series of articles we'd like to share and in this series we'll focus on Transformation. Transformation is not just about shelter—it’s about rebuilding lives through faith, mentorship, job training, mental health support, and personal development.
Case Study: From a Park Bench to a Purpose-Driven Life
John sat on a park bench with nothing but a trash bag and despair. Today, he’s mentoring others, leading Bible studies, and working full-time. His story is one of transformation, grace, and the power of community.
After connecting with one of our coalition partners, John entered a 90-day housing and discipleship program. There, he found safety, purpose, and healing. He began attending church, received mental health counseling, and rediscovered a relationship with God.
The road wasn’t easy. There were relapses, doubts, and setbacks. Through it all, John had a team - people who prayed, stayed, and believed.
He often shares his story with others now: “You don’t know how powerful it is to have someone believe you can change - even when you don’t.”
John’s story is why we do this. Because we believe transformation is possible for anyone, anywhere.
That’s the grace of Jesus, alive and active in the housing insecure community.
